Laurene Brooks has been with the Trust Company since 2004 as a senior member of our personal trust group. A proud Golden Eagle, Laurene was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Spanish from Marquette University and a Juris Doctorate from its school of law. Laurene developed her love of trusts and estate planning at the law firm of Quarles & Brady in Milwaukee where she practiced for five years before accepting a position in the trust department of First Bank, Milwaukee. She later joined Associated Trust Company in Neenah after she and her husband relocated to Oshkosh to be closer to their Berlin and Oshkosh families.
Armed with a pleasant curiosity and delightful style, Laurene cultivates personal and enduring relationships with her clients who appreciate her heartfelt interest in their personal and financial situations. In addition to assisting clients with their financial management and estate planning, Laurene serves as Legacy’s senior fiduciary officer, a role in which she advises associates on an array of fiduciary and legal matters.
Laurene served for more than 10 years on the board and is a past chair of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. RPPT’s mission is to assist member lawyers with various aspects of the section’s benefits, including education; participate in new and revised legislation; effectively communicate with RPPT members; and serve as the liaison between RPPT and the general Bar.
Laurene is active in many aspects of the Oshkosh community, including her church, St. Raphael the Archangel, and Lourdes Academy, where her three sons, daughter-in-law, and one “bonus son” from Burundi, Africa, attended high school. Laurene and her husband, Bob, make family time a priority and treasure any time that the whole family is together. They especially love being grandparents. As empty nesters, Bob and Laurene enjoy spending time or going out for dinner with friends and extended family; attending high school and professional theatre performances and sporting events; and traveling. Laurene also loves her morning bold roast coffee, an occasional round of golf, working out at Synergy in Oshkosh, bike riding, and taking long walks through the neighborhood, especially when “grandpuppy,” Lila, is visiting. Laurene’s ultimate escape is spending time at or in the woods surrounding their family cabin in Saxeville, WI.
Supporting Laurene with her client relationships is Mary Jovanovich, Assistant Trust Officer. Mary’s primary role is in client servicing and account support. She has more than 30 years of experience in trust administration and providing outstanding service to clients and their families. Mary’s conscientious and empathetic personality makes her an easy person to work with and her long-term clients rely on her attention to the needs of their families.
